Christer Johansson founded Protelo in 2008 after nearly 20 years of experience in the software industry. He started his career as a hands-on technical consultant. Over time, his technical skills, business acumen, and leadership ability elevated him to an executive position of a leading global enterprise-class software company. Under Christer’s leadership, Protelo has been successful at building a team of highly skilled and experienced technology consultants.
Prior to starting Protelo, Christer worked for International Business Systems (IBS) where he served in several positions. His areas of expertise encompass extensive technical know-how, business application design and development, project and people management, business consulting, and more. He also has significant hands-on experience of leading and/or participating in enterprise software implementations. Christer is highly proficient with Java EE, HTML, ILE RPG, NetSuite (ERP, CRM, Advanced Projects, SuiteFlow, SuiteScript, SuiteTalk, Microsoft Exchange Integration), and IBS ASW Enterprise.
As the Chief Operating Officer, Tom oversees all customers and projects, simultaneously managing Protelo’s team of consultants. He offers valuable expertise that includes more than 25 years of supply chain management experience in senior-level consulting and management roles in software implementations and project management. Tom has led many successful large and complex projects while performing hands-on analysis and refinement of business requirements, best practices, configuration of distribution and manufacturing systems, facilitation, and execution of end-user training. Over the years, he’s helped many customers get the most out of their NetSuite and/or IBS investment.
Tom’s business process expertise includes: NetSuite ERP and IBS SCM (demand and supply planning, purchasing, and warehouse management); NetSuite manufacturing and IBS manufacturing/MRP (workload planning/scheduling, operations reporting, receiving, costing, and analysis); NetSuite CRM (sales order management, sales force automation, marketing automation, and email/calendar integration); and BI / analytics. He has vast industry experience including pharmaceuticals distribution, medical devices distribution, food distribution and manufacturing, ecommerce, and a wide array of industries with distribution and manufacturing requirements. As far as software experience goes, he has in-depth knowledge of various enterprise-class products including NetSuite, IBS ASW/Enterprise, Sugar CRM, and JBA.
Prior to Protelo, Tom worked for International Business Systems (IBS) and Nugget Distributors (now UniPro), and he held key IT, material, and program management positions within the IT department of the US Air Force. Tom holds an MS in Industrial Distribution / Technology from the University of Texas at Tyler.
Having worked in private, non-profit, and government sectors, Aimee holds a wide array of financial and management experience. With over 20 years under her belt, Aimee has spent the majority of her career in the software industry and has worked for companies ranging from startups to global corporations.
Aimee began her career as a full-charge bookkeeper determined to work her way up the corporate ladder. She carefully selected roles that exposed her to work addressing all facets of the accounting process which provided the opportunity to expand into human resources. She quickly found herself working closely with C-level executives which attributed to her professionalism and natural progression into executive management.
Before joining Protelo, Aimee worked for International Business Systems (IBS) serving as CFO of the Americas and Asia-Pacific regions. Aimee holds an MBA and Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
Paulo offers Protelo over 25 years of knowledge and experience in the IT industry. As manager of his team in Portugal, he believes strongly in leading by example. Enthusiastic and dedicated to technology applied to business processes, he aims to pass on his passion by working closely alongside his team.
Paulo started his career as a programmer in a start-up company. As he proved himself as driven and capable, he assumed new roles and more responsibility. Rising from analyst to consultant to manager, he ultimately became a partner in the company.
Prior to joining Protelo, Paulo worked for IBS in Portugal and other regions of Europe. He managed different teams of developers, consultants, and project managers in countries including Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Brazil. He was involved in both local and international projects in the areas of distribution, manufacturing, finance, and administration. His experience in software packages includes among others NetSuite, IBS ASW and Enterprise, and Salesforce.com.
Paulo speaks five languages and is fluent in three. He holds a BsC in Electronics from Lisbon University in Portugal and a MsC in Information Systems Management from the University of Liverpool in the UK.
Having started his IT career in 1974, Len offers decades of experience in the IT industry. He’s the expert when it comes to conducting technical training classes and is highly skilled in designing and building software solutions in multi-language / multi-platform software environments. He has the rare ability to research and understand complex technologies and then present them in layman’s terms to technical neophytes.
Len has wide experience of several technologies and platforms including Windows, Linux, iSeries, Java EE, C#.Net, VB.Net, and ILE RPG. He also has five years of hands-on project experience in several aspects of NetSuite SuiteCloud development including customization, client and server side scripting (SuiteScript), and systems integration via web services (SuiteTalk). He’s made a specialty of applying all of these wide-ranging skills toward building robust solutions in several diverse application integration scenarios. Len is also an acknowledged expert in software change management processes and tools.
Prior to joining Protelo, Len worked for International Business Systems (IBS) in the US and Europe. There he served in both managerial and hands-on technical roles covering software development and application integration projects. Before IBS, Len’s career included several years of developing financial software solutions in the commercial banking, insurance, reinsurance, and securities trading industries, working in such prestigious institutions as the Lloyd’s of London insurance market and the London Stock Exchange.
Roger offers a career of more than 25 years in the IT industry. His expertise has been developed through his highly valued experience in project management, software implementations, integrations, customer training, and pilot workshops in both technical and business-application roles.
As Project Manager, Roger works faithfully with customers to improve their business processes, increase their efficiency, and keep them updated with 21st-century solutions. He’s proven instrumental in both the design and implementation of technical solutions required to meet clients’ unique needs.
His business-area experience includes distribution, inventory management, pricing models, cash management for payment cards, logistics, and shipping solutions. He’s recently worked on NetSuite and cloud-solution integration with major providers like CyberSource, Chase Payment Tech for payment cards, and Avalara AvaTax for sales tax. He is also extremely well versed in the complexities of data conversion having led many successful data-conversion projects.
Roger has wide experience in several technologies, programming languages, and platforms including: Java, iSeries RPG/CL ILE, DB2, SQL, JSP, Servlets, SOAP, EDI, Data Conversion, XML, JSon, Web Services, and Tomcat.
Prior to joining Protelo, Roger worked many years at International Business Systems (IBS) in the United States and Europe.
Ziad has close to three decades of experience in the distribution software industry. Through his experience in the life cycle of business software development and system implementations, Ziad has overcome the most complex business requirements to deliver solutions using optimally efficient and cost-effective methods. His roles over the years have included designing, reviewing designs, developing, leading development teams, and insuring high quality of delivered systems.
Ziad’s specific knowledge in warehouse management and radio frequency have made him globally sought after. Prior to joining Protelo, he worked many years for International Business Systems (IBS) both in the United States and Europe.
Whether it be legacy or cutting-edge technology, Ryszard has the rare ability to learn and understand any software. His 30+ years of hands-on experience in the IT industry designing, developing, and implementing software give him a unique perspective on programming. To Ryszard, programming is nothing but a combination of zeros and ones, so there’s no such thing as an impossible task.
With more than 20 years spent in the IT industry, Richard has extensive experience with large and complex ERP software implementations and integrations.
Before coming on board at Protelo, Richard worked several years at IBS as a Senior Solutions Architect and team leader, working in depth with ASW, Enterprise, and Integrator. His role primarily included designing, developing, reviewing, and implementing complex solutions and integrations. During his tenure, he developed and fortified multi-dimensional skills in technical, application, project management, organizational, and training areas.
Richard holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering. He’s also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified SCRUM Master (CSM), certified QlikView Developer and Designer, and has completed a Dale Carnegie certification in leadership.
More than 25 years of supply chain management experience in ERP distribution and manufacturing implementations gives Nersi a unique combination of business process and technical expertise. His experience with project management, end-user training, distribution, and best business practices has proven highly valuable for implementations of all sizes.
Nersi’s clients benefit greatly from his vast business process knowledge (sales, warehousing, radio frequency, manufacturing, procurement) and his expertise in industries of all kinds (electronics, automotive, industrial supplies, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, consumer packaged goods). His technical know-how has proven invaluable in reducing the cost of software changes and process improvements. His experience in software packages includes NetSuite, IBS ASW and Enterprise, JD Edwards, and Salesforce.com.
Before joining Protelo, Nersi worked for International Business Systems (IBS) where he served in many consulting and project management positions. Prior to IBS, he worked several years in the distribution and retail industries. Nersi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering.
With 10+ years of design experience, Rachel provides Protelo her skill and natural talent for all visual communication. For both internal and client projects, her services include graphic design, web design, marketing, illustration, typography, branding, photography, and social media.
Before joining Protelo, Rachel worked as a designer for a wide variety of businesses including Folsom Asset Management Inc., Summer Management LLC, Gia Allemand Foundation, Eres Rice Communications, Camerata California, Peloton Cellars, SunHills Community Church, Synergy Ministries and more. Her designs have also been used for published book covers, magazines, printed advertisements, band logos, and web branding.
Rachel’s technical proficiencies include Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, NetSuite, Acrobat, Joomla, and WordPress. She also has experience with HTML (web and email marketing), CSS, and is fluent with Mac OSX and Windows. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with honors in Graphic Design from California State University Sacramento.
Dave Lyle brings to Protelo 20+ years of sales experience with 15 of those years in the manufacturing sector. Having started his career as a teacher, Dave found his way into the sales profession starting in the financial services industry with Orange County based TD Service Company. He later moved to a long and successful tenure at Microform Precision, a Sacramento firm specializing in the fabrication of precision metal components for use in finished goods produced by small and large manufacturers (including Coherent, Siemens Transportation, and Haas Automation to name a few). As part of the Protelo team, Dave applies his demonstrated success working alongside customers with complex requirements and technical needs. His strategy of matching the real needs of clients with viable solutions is the cornerstone of his philosophy of partnering with Protelo’s customers as an extension of their business. Outside work Dave continues his passion for running with his dog on the trails and roads around Folsom Lake and the lower foothills and enjoys spending time with his wife of 31 years and three adult children.
Approaching 25 years in the IT industry, Mike has vast experience in the design, development, and implementation of complex ERP software solutions. His experience in distribution, financials, and ecommerce crosses a variety of industries including pharmaceutical, automotive aftermarket, appliance, food, consumer goods, and industrial supply. Tenacious and dedicated, Mike is always willing to take on any challenge with a “never ever give up” attitude.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
Since starting his career with a large, multinational manufacturing company, Luis has accumulated almost 25 years of experience in the IT industry. He’s worked on numerous projects of high complexity and is very proficient in the design, development, and implementation of ERP solutions for numerous manufacturing and distribution industries including automotive, pharmaceutical, wood transformation, electronics, packaging, appliances, food, beverage, and consumer goods.
Prior to joining the team at Protelo, Luis worked for International Business Systems (IBS) both in Europe and the US. His areas of involvement there included consulting, product management, sales support, solutions architecture, and development. He fulfilled crucial roles as designer, team leader, and manager in projects resulting in the technological evolution and expansion of the IBS product family.
Luis has extensive experience in several technologies and platforms including iSeries, Windows, ILE RPG, IBS Integrator, Java, NetSuite (SuiteScript, SuiteFlow), and HTML. His goal for excellence makes him persistent and focused, never turning away from a challenge.
With four decades of manufacturing and distribution experience, Bill adds valuable insight and knowledge to Protelo’s team of experts. Before joining Protelo, he spent 15 years as a software consultant with roles in project management, business consulting, and application consulting. He headed up numerous IBS Enterprise/ASW implementations in various distribution industries including hospitality, healthcare, home furnishing, decorating, janitorial, sanitation, automotive aftermarket parts, bath/body products, and beverage distribution.
Bill’s software industry experience was preceded by a long career in the wholesale distribution and manufacturing industries. While at Sta-Rite Industries, he had management responsibilities that spanned from the warehouse shop floor all the way up to corporate level. As Director of Materials, he was responsible for all operational, manufacturing, and distribution planning and execution activities. In this position, he took the company from the traditional, master-planning “push” mode to a proactive, just-in-time (JIT) flow environment. Bill was also responsible for streamlining a multi-tiered distribution network. This included manufacturer-direct-to-retailer shipment, vendor-managed inventory (VMI), warehouse management support systems, cycle counting, SIOP (sales, inventory, and operations planning), and a strategic inventory stocking program.
Bill has software experience in IBS ASW and Enterprise, NetSuite, Manhattan, and Salesforce.com. His certifications include the American Production & Inventory Control Society (APICS CPIM), Worldwide Flow College, and the MRA Leadership Institute.
Carin offers Protelo and her clients over 25 years of distribution management and supply chain technology experience. Beginning her professional career working for a Fortune 100 food manufacturing and distribution company, she’s carried out important roles from the start including production manager, customer service manager, operations manager, and distribution center manager.
For the past 15 years, she’s been working as a software and business process consultant designing and configuring ERP solutions including ASW and IBS Enterprise. She’s led many successful ERP implementation projects with both hands-on and leadership roles for wholesale distributors and manufacturers. Specific industries include pharmaceutical, retail goods, automotive aftermarket, and paper products. She’s also been able to expand her software repertoire with several years of daily NetSuite use.
Carin always provides unique, valuable perspective with clients thanks to her combined experience in distribution/manufacturing management and software consulting.
Protelo can proudly claim another 25 years of valuable experience thanks to Winston. As a highly skilled senior programmer/analyst with extensive knowledge of ILE RPG, Winston has been deeply involved in development, conversions, troubleshooting, and error corrections.
Prior to joining Protelo, Winston spent close to a dozen years at International Business Systems (IBS) in the United States and Australia where he tucked many successful implementations of IBS Enterprise / ASW under his belt. He also spent five years as part of an in-house IT team at a large, publicly-traded wholesale distributor of veterinary medicine and supplies. He began his professional career in Malaysia working on the IBM platform as a software developer, project lead, and network administrator in various industries (freight forwarding, manufacturing, duty free retail, investment holding).
Over his years in the industry, Winston has developed a solid reputation for working closely with customers in developing quality solutions and resolving complex software issues in a timely manner.
Mikaela brings to Protelo 3+ years of business and NetSuite experience. After starting her career at Wells Fargo Bank, Mikaela later joined Protelo, working with sales, marketing, accounting and services.
As part of the Protelo team, Mikaela combines her business and NetSuite experience in areas like payroll, billing, expense reimbursements, accounting, marketing, partner management, administration, SuiteBuilder, SuiteFlow and SuiteScript.
Outside of Protelo, Mikaela pursues her passion for drawing and enjoys spending time with her family in the beautiful mountains of Sheridan, WY.
José has 15 years of experience as an RPG programmer. While his primary role has been that of developer, he’s held many titles throughout his years in the IT industry. His various roles have given him first-hand experience in technical design, quality control, customer support, and team management. He has proven his leadership qualities having overseen several successful go-lives and having managed his own team of programmers.
Derek Brown has an extensive background in manufacturing and distribution. He possesses a unique ability to translate business processes into technical and software requirements. Derek has worked in a wide variety of roles in manufacturing and process engineering, materials management and manufacturing management. Industry experience includes aerospace, medical devices, semi-conductor, industrial tools, fasteners, automotive, defense and robotics.
Derek’s expertise is in purchasing, supply-chain management, cost-reduction strategies, vendor selection and development, warehousing (multi-location, bin management, serial/lot traceability), manufacturing, customer relationship management (CRM) and ecommerce. Derek has led multiple high-level projects to streamline business processes. These projects include warehouse redesign, warehouse management software optimization and supply chain restructuring. Software experience includes NetSuite, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, OzLink, Sugar CRM and Joomla.
Derek is based in Folsom, near Sacramento and is actively working with Protelo clients on NetSuite implementations and customizations. Derek holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Filipa has almost 10 years of experience in the distribution software industry. She’s held different roles in both analysis and development, and has also had significant involvement in functional and quality testing of software solutions with a focus on quality assurance and customer satisfaction.
Filipa is knowledgeable and experienced when it comes to software development control (Aldon), Windows, iSeries, ILE RPG, and ASW/IBS. She also has some knowledge of Java. She’s worked on multi-task and international teams on several national and international projects.
Prior to joining Protelo, Filipa worked for IBS in Portugal as a technical consultant working with ASW/IBS Enterprise. She spent her years there in the development of customized software solutions and ERP solutions, customer support, and error corrections.
Filipa holds a degree in Applied Mathematics from The Faculty of Science, Oporto University.
Pedro has over 12 years of experience as an analyst and developer. His expertise is in distribution having worked with customers in a wide variety of industries. His hands-on working experience in such a broad spectrum of industries (including pharmaceutical, automotive, bookstore, appliance, and food) give him unique insight and understanding into diverse customer needs.
Prior to joining Protelo, Pedro spent more than six years at International Business Systems (IBS) as a technical consultant of IBS Enterprise / ASW. He then continued to build his skills working another five years as an analyst for a Portuguese IT company. His experience here included deep involvement in several legal developments.
Pedro has a degree in Computer Science from Faculdade de Ciências de Lisboa.
From design and development to software implementation, Ana has been well prepared for her position with Protelo through her 15 years of hands-on experience in the IT industry.
She started her career in Portugal with International Business Systems (IBS). Working there for several years with ASW and Enterprise, she took part in many projects in various distribution industries (books, automotive, supermarket, appliances, and others).
Ana later worked for a Portuguese IT company where she was named technical lead of its most important client, a major book company in Portugal using ASW. She worked on projects in the back office and warehouse management areas of that corporation.
Ana has experience with EDI, document processing (JetForm), and software development control (Aldon). She’s vastly knowledgeable regarding technologies and platforms including Windows, iSeries, ILE RPG, Java, DB2, CoolPlex, SQL Server, and MySQL. She has a degree in Computer Science Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico of Lisbon.
Richard has over 30 years of experience in accounting and accounting systems. Most recently, Richard has focused on complex ERP software implementations of IBS Enterprise, NetSuite and the development of interfaces into ASW and IBS Enterprise. From financial accounting to designing interfaces, Richard combines technical knowledge with financial acumen to provide complete solutions.
Prior to Protelo, Richard worked for IBS as a financial systems consultant and later as a senior business consultant, working extensively with ASW and IBS Enterprise. Before this, he worked for five years at Union Bank implementing multi-currency software systems in multiple countries, and at Montgomery Securities supporting the fast-paced processing of trades and settlements.
The other 12 years of his career, Richard was in England providing business solutions for European banks. He shifted from development in RPG to business analysis and focused on the rich and challenging world of finance.
Richard holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Nottingham University, England.
Jon suits up with over 25 years of distribution management and supply chain technology experience. He began his career working for a wholesale distributor and was part of the team that led the very first implementation of IBS Enterprise (ASW) in the US. He later went on to work for IBS and, as a result, brings a wealth of knowledge of each release of the software with him to Protelo.
For the past 10 years, Jon has been working as a software and business process consultant designing and configuring ERP solutions. Additionally, he’s led many successful ERP implementation projects with both hands-on and leadership roles for wholesale distributors and manufacturers. Specific industries include pharmaceutical, retail goods, automotive aftermarket, and paper products.
His vast experience in distribution/manufacturing management and software consulting combine to give him unique, valuable perspective with clients.
Travis comes with 20 years of experience in implementing enterprise software and integrating business applications. His expertise encompasses extensive technical know-how, leadership ability, business integration design, project and people management. Travis also has significant hands-on experience in leading and participating in enterprise software implementations across multiple industries such as steel, technology infrastructure, electronics manufacturing, software development and professional services.
Travis has helped numerous businesses become more efficient and competitive by leveraging the unique capabilities of ERP and CRM. He provides in-depth understanding of NetSuite, cloud computing and SaaS, ultimately bridging business processes with the technical complexities of enterprise software.
Travis has successfully led and managed complex software projects for companies from start-up level to Fortune 500. His background in designing, configuring ERP and integrating solutions gives him a valuable perspective that communicates well with clients.
Brianne comes with 7 + years of manufacturing experience and business system process improvement and development. She has held the titles of operations manager, administrative officer and business systems analyst in her professional years. Prior to joining Protelo, Brianne worked for a manufacturing and distribution company proving NetSuite support, applying and growing in knowledge, skill and experience simultaneously.
Brianne grew up working for her family business so her curiosity in business and how to run a business successfully developed very early on at a young age. From there, Brianne’s interest expanded her involvement with a variety of small business start-ups from travel agencies and non-profit agencies, to restaurants and international import and export of goods.
Her curiosity in understanding business led her to pursue an undergraduate degree in Business Management and Finance, and later a Master Degree in Information Systems.
When not at work, Brianne enjoys getting lost in movies, fishing and cooking.
Claes comes to Protelo with over 25 years of experience working on software solutions for distribution and manufacturing companies in industries such as Beverage (Wine & Liquor) distribution, Pharmaceutical, Medical supplies, Plastics, Paper, Electronic components and Automotive.
Claes began his career with International Business Systems (now known as Iptor) where he worked for nearly 20 years. Claes was a software consultant and developer in Sweden for the first few years before transferring to the US office. In the US, he was a technical lead helping customers implement the ASW software. Claes handled functional and technical design, data conversion, functional and technical training, and naturally, development.
Prior to joining Protelo, Claes served as IT Director at PEI Genesis where he led a team of developers responsible for developing software solutions to solve the ever-growing business needs within ASW and NetStore. With application areas of expertise that include sales and purchase order processing, warehouse management, financials and EDI, Claes is yet another valuable resource Protelo can deliver to service its clients.
Having spent the majority of his career building and managing development and technical support teams for a variety of small and mid-sized businesses in the hospitality and retail/eCommerce space, Tom has accumulated over 20 years of experience in information technology and management. With full participation in three separate company acquisitions, he has acquired a wealth of systems integration knowledge, both practical and theoretical. His experience has taught him through perseverance and persistence that every challenge does indeed have a solution.
Tom began his career in information technology as a database designer and developer, and quickly took on additional roles in network and desktop support at a large call center in Las Vegas, NV. After a short stint with a managed services organization, Tom spent over 11 years in the hospitality industry developing software on multiple platforms, designing and maintaining websites, and managing complex infrastructures. During this period, he was integral in the implementation of systems enhancements and policies to satisfy the introduction of PCI DSS compliance. In addition to payment cards, Tom has several years of experience in adherence to government standards related to systems and security required by entities such as the Federal Bureau of Reclamation and the Nevada State Gaming Control Board.
Lauren has more than 30 years of experience working in the IT field for distribution, manufacturing and production businesses. She began her career as a programmer analyst and moved into management positions as well as sales roles.
Lauren spent a significant amount of her career working for International Business Systems (now known as Iptor Supply Chain Systems). While working within the R&D department, she helped design functionality that was implemented in the US market. Major functions included radio frequency, core handling, enhanced inventory control, supplier marketing support, liquor pricing, enhanced outbound shipment handling, customer returns and route reconciliation.
While at IBS, Lauren also headed up numerous Enterprise/ASW implementations in various distribution industries such as wine and spirits, janitorial, parts, paper and large equipment.
Lauren also has experience supporting NetSuite, Manhattan, and Oracle.
Tim brings over 18 years of software engineering experience to Protelo in industries ranging from dairy manufacturing, to escrow and title, and education. His roles over the years have included all aspects of the software development lifecycle including design, coding, quality assurance and support of new software, maintenance of existing software, and integration between system platforms.
Prior to joining Protelo, Tim was a Software Engineer and then Technical Lead for an education organization. There he led a team in which they developed software for creating customized content for student assessments. Tim also worked for a dairy goods manufacturer where he was responsible for developing and maintaining in-house iSeries and Windows applications, developing and maintaining EDI modifications, and developing the data migration from their legacy system to IBS ASW.
Shelly comes with 20+ years of expertise in accounting and have held roles such as Controller and Finance Director. Early on, Shelly had a flair for digging into finance systems and finding ways to utilize the systems that make financial reports highly informative and teams more efficient and productive. Shelly’s technical savvy, coupled with her awareness for the type of information company finance leaders needed at their fingertips, made her a valuable team member.
Shelly expanded her involvement in system implementations, from complex platforms such as IBS and SAP, to NetSuite and much simpler programs like Quickbooks. Recognizing that this is where her passion lies, Shelly has spent the last decade consulting and implementing ERP systems from the ground up.
