Christer started Protelo, Inc, in early 2008. His goal was to build a team of highly skilled and dedicated professionals with a focus on providing clients with values-driven technology leadership.
Christer has 20+ years practical experience in leading and helping distributors and manufacturers develop and implement their IT solutions. His experience spans a wide range of industries including food, beverage, electronics, electrical, paper, fasteners, educational supplies, automotive, and parts. Christer is also highly proficient with Java EE, HTML, ILE RPG, NetSuite (CRM, Advanced Projects, Microsoft Exchange Integration, SuiteFlow, SuiteScript, SuiteTalk), and IBS ASW Enterprise.
Prior to starting Protelo, Christer worked for International Business Systems (IBS), in which he served in several positions. Christer's experience encompasses extensive technical know-how, business application design and development, project and people management, business consulting, and more. He also has significant hands-on experience of leading and/or participating in enterprise software implementations. During his career, Christer has earned from his clients, partners, and peers, a reputation of applying a highly pragmatic and ethical approach in helping organizations realize their technology visions.

Lauren Pearce, Senior Business Consultant
Lauren offers a wealth of practical "how to" experience gained over 28 years in the IT industry - experience that includes leading numerous implementations of SCM, SCE, and ERP application software systems. She has an innate ability to identify the root cause of every "pain" in a software implementation. Her experience invariably enables her to develop a solution, whether it be through process re-engineering or software re-design. She has provided highly valued practical support to numerous customer "go lives".
Lauren has hands-on experience of implementing and providing training in application software solutions in several industries, including Wine & Liquor, Food & Beverage, Automotive, Pharmaceuticals, Industrial Supplies, Electronics, Education, Manufacturing, and Real Estate Development.
Throughout her career, she has developed expert knowledge in several key business application areas, including distribution, inventory management, warehousing with R/F, production, and rebates / royalties / chargebacks.
Prior to joining Protelo, Lauren worked for International Business Systems (IBS), where she served many years in implementation and consulting roles.
Prior to IBS, Lauren's experience included IT management positions with Young's Market Company (liquor distributor) and Guild Wineries (where she oversaw the implementation of BPCS). She also spent several years as a software developer working on distribution, manufacturing, and financial applications.

Len Merkel, Senior Technology Consultant
Len provides many years of hands-on experience in the IT industry, having started his IT career in 1974. Len is highly skilled at conducting technical training classes, and designing and building software solutions in multi-language / multi-platform software environments. He has the rare ability to research and understand complex technologies, and then present them in layman's terms to technical neophytes. Len has wide experience of several technologies and platforms, including Windows, Linux, iSeries, Java EE, C#.Net, VB.Net, ILE RPG, NetSuite (SuiteFlow, SuiteScript, SuiteTalk). He has made a specialty of applying those skills in building robust solutions in several diverse application integration scenarios. Len is also an acknowledged expert in software change management processes and tools. Prior to joining Protelo, Len worked for International Business Systems (IBS) in the US and Europe, where he served in both managerial and hands-on technical roles, covering software development and application integration projects. Len's career, prior to IBS, included several years of developing financial software solutions in the commercial banking, insurance, reinsurance, and securities trading industries, working in such prestigious institutions as the Lloyd's of London insurance market and the London Stock Exchange.

Roger Rolf, Senior Application Consultant
Roger brings 25+ years of experience in the IT industry. Roger has highly-valued experience in software implementations, customer training, and pilot workshops, in both technical and business application related roles. Roger is equally at home assisting customers in improving their business processes, as he is designing and implementing technical solutions to meet their requirements. His business area experience includes Inventory Management, Pricing Models, Logistics, and Shipping Solutions. He is also extremely well-versed in the complexities of data conversion, having led many successful data conversion projects. Tom Victor, PMP, Senior Business Consultant
Tom offers 25+ years of supply chain management experience including senior level consulting and management roles in software implementations and project management. Tom has led many successful large and complex projects while performing hands-on analysis and refinement of business requirements, best practices, configuration of distribution and manufacturing systems, facilitation and execution of end-user training. Tom also led efforts in the creation of a new SaaS offering.
Tom's business process expertise includes ERP, SCM (demand and supply planning, purchasing, and warehouse management), MRP (workload planning/scheduling, operations reporting, receiving, costing and analysis), CRM (sales order management, sales force automation, marketing automation and email/calendar integration) and BI / Analytics. Industry experience includes pharmaceuticals distribution, medical devices distribution, food distribution and manufacturing, ecommerce, and a wide array of industries with distribution and manufacturing requirements.
Tom’s software experience includes in-depth knowledge of various enterprise class products including NetSuite, IBS ASW/Enterprise, SugarCRM, and JBA. Prior to Protelo, Tom worked for International Business Systems (IBS), Nugget Distributors (now UniPro) and held key IT, material and program management positions within the Department of the Air Force. Tom holds a MS in Industrial Distribution / Technology from the University of Texas at Tyler.

Randall Ferre, Business Development Manager
Randall adds 25+ years of business and software experience to the Protelo team. Having worked in a wide variety of roles, ranging from small and multi-national software implementations to heading up the business development effort for several companies, Randall’s diverse experience working in the industry from “both sides of the fence” uniquely qualifies him to continue Protelo’s win-win philosophy. Randall began his career, after receiving a B.S. in Business Management, heading up an accelerated software selection and implementation project for a distributor servicing large retailers. The project involved developing several advanced applications such as bar code data collection, inventory forecasting, POS interfaces, and random warehouse location management. This set the stage for a long career working with a variety of software products including DMAS, DAS, BPCS, Friedman, IBS ASW, MarketLive, Dynamics and NetSuite. Randall has also worked as a business development executive for CustomerLink, a marketing services firm; Shari’s Berries International, an e-tailer/manufacturer of gourmet gifts; and EA Consulting, a Microsoft Dynamics and SAP consultancy. Randall has also worked with several industry thought leaders including Gartner Group, AMR Research, Microsoft and IBM. Randall is responsible for sales and marketing at Protelo. Randall is based in Folsom, near Sacramento, and is actively working with NetSuite, the #1 Cloud ERP and Financial Software Suite.

Chuck Smith, Senior Business Consultant
Chuck has over 20 years of corporate accounting and finance experience to the team. Most recently, Chuck has focused on large and complex ERP software implementations and integrations, including NetSuite, OneWorld and IBS Enterprise. From financial accounting basics to multi-national, multi-currency, multi-subsidiary installations and process design, Chuck understands the value of integrated systems, and has the unique ability to communicate with all departments in their own language, leading to successful software implementations. Prior to Protelo, Chuck worked for IBS as a Financial Systems Consultant then Senior Business Consultant, working extensively with ASW and IBS Enterprise. Prior to this, Chuck worked nine years for a publicly traded retailer and distributor, where he started his career in shipping/receiving. He then moved into accounting as a staff accountant and then as a financial analyst working directly with the CFO. Chuck has deep experience in financial report presentation, SEC reporting, product costing, data analysis, budgeting, financial business process design and integrations. Chuck holds a bachelor’s degree in finance, from California State University, Sacramento.

Ryszard Malinowski, Senior Technology Consultant
Ryszard offers over 25 years of hands-on experience in the IT industry in designing, developing, and implementing software in the area of manufacturing, distribution, finance and administration. He has rare ability to learn and understand any software technology, whether it be legacy or cutting edge. To Ryszard, programming is just a combination of “zeros” and “ones” so there is no such thing as an impossible task. Prior to IBS, Ryszard worked as a consultant for IBM Poland on various tasks including IBM software localization and implementation.

Specifically, Richard's role included designing, developing, reviewing and implementing complex solutions. During his tenure, Richard demonstrated multi-dimensional skills in the technical, application, organizational and training areas. Richard has wide experience in several technologies and platforms including Windows, Unix, iSeries, ILE RPG, C, Java, C#, ASP.net and DB2.
Richard holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering. Richard is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified SCRUM Master (CSM) and has completed a Dale Carnegie certification in leadership.

Rachel Groves, Graphic Designer
Rachel specializes in every field of visual communication including graphic design, illustration, typography, branding, photography and interactive new media. Rachel’s design services will be used for both internal and client projects
Prior to Protelo, Rachel worked as a freelance graphic designer for a diverse array of businesses, including SunHills Community Church, Folsom Asset Management Inc., Eres Rice Communications, Summer Management LLC, Whiskey Dawn Band and Peloton Cellars.
Rachel’s technical proficiencies include Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, and Acrobat. Rachel also has experience with Html and CSS and is fluent with Mac OSX and Windows. Rachel holds a bachelor’s degree with honors in Graphic Design, from California State University Sacramento.

Dave Lyle, Senior Account Executive
Dave Lyle brings to Protelo 20+ years of sales experience with 15 of those years in the manufacturing sector. Having started his career as a teacher, Dave found his way into the sales profession starting in the financial services industry with Orange County based TD Service Company. He later moved to a long and successful tenure at Microform Precision, a Sacramento firm specializing in the fabrication of precision metal components for use in finished goods produced by small and large manufacturers (including Coherent, Siemens Transportation, and Haas Automation to name a few).
As part of the Protelo team, Dave applies his demonstrated success working alongside customers with complex requirements and technical needs. His strategy of matching the real needs of clients with viable solutions is the cornerstone of his philosophy of partnering with Protelo’s customers as an extension of their business.
Outside work Dave continues his passion for running with his dog on the trails and roads around Folsom Lake and the lower foothills and enjoys spending time with his wife of 28 years and three adult children.
